1. On Urs (birthday) of Emperor Shah Jahan
The celebration of Shah Jahan’s birthday inside the Taj Mahal is known as Urs of Shah Jahan. 3 day Urs celebration is held every year on 25th, 26th, and 27th of Rajab (the name of the 7th month of the Islamic Calender) month. The birth anniversary of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan is celebrated with enormous Joy and Happiness.
Due to this, the Archeological Survey of India (ASI) provides free entry into the Taj Mahal. The ASI provides three days of free entry inside the monument. On the first two days of the visit, the Taj Mahal is free between 2:00 PM to 6 PM. And, for the 3rd it is free for the entire day.
This is the time when the basement of the Taj Mahal, which contains the actual Grave’s of Mumtaz Mahal and Shah Jahan is opened for visitors.
2. On International Women’s Day
